Autism and ADHD assessments

Child and adult NICE-complaint assessments you can trust that are also accepted by services (NHS, local authorities, schools and universities)

Arranging an assessment to find out if you or a loved one may be autistic and/or have ADHD can be a daunting process. Dr Duncan Harris leads all assessments and does all he can to ensure a positive experience.

Assessments follow important clinical best practice guidelines whilst also having a flexible process when needed. This means that every person who seeks an assessment can be confident that they have been well understood by their assessment team. The individual ways people cope with stress and manage the impact of any areas of difference and difficulty are also assessed. As such, people can move forwards after an assessment knowing more about themselves and the ideas and supports that can help increase their sense of self-acceptance and wellbeing.

DH Psychology is often used by diagnostic services to provide second opinions when there has been any doubt in people's initial assessments. Dr Duncan Harris also provides guidance and supervision to lead clinicians in the NHS, private sector and family court setting as he has developed a reputation for providing comprehensive, empowering and individualised assessments for neurodivergent children, young people and adults.

We tend to be a less expensive option compared to larger diagnostic pathways and organisations. Being a small team of committed and experienced clinicians (all have over 10 years post-qualification experience) means we ensure a high-quality assessment experience whilst also offering value for money. We appreciate that it is still a lot of money, so we are able to offer payment plans to aid affordability.

Assessment consists of 1) completing background questionnaires, 2) arranging appointments with the person and a caregiver/partner (when needed and appropriate), 3) liaison with schools and colleges (child and young person assessment), 4) a comprehensive written report outlining the diagnostic outcome and personal profile of strengths and needs, and 5) a feedback session to discuss the assessment and any questions.

Assessments can be booked within a matter of weeks and completed between 5-to-6 weeks from them starting. Post assessment support is also offered by Dr Harris in the form of one-off consultations or blocks of therapeutic support so you are not left feeling unsure of what to do next.
