Hi, my name is Duncan Harris. I work as a Clinical Psychologist and am the director of DH Psychology. I offer assessments that help people to develop a better understanding of themselves and the challenges they face.

Finding help can feel like a daunting process, I hope I can help with your queries.

Please read on to see the services I offer.

SERVICES I OFFER

Diversity

AUTISM / ADHD ASSESSMENTS

Diagnostic assessments in line with NICE guidelines, including the use of an assessment team. This means outcomes are accepted by local authorities, schools, and health services. My reports explain the person's underlying social communication/interaction style as well as their preferred behaviour and thinking patterns. Coping strategies, including camouflaging/masking and drive for autonomy/demand avoidance, are also assessed.

EXPERT WITNESS

I offer individual and family psychological assessments; cognitive and capacity assessments; and diagnostic assessments within the family courts. I have a specialism in supporting those with suspected neurodevelopmental conditions (Intellectual Disability, Autism, and/or ADHD) and problematic attachment patterns linked to complex trauma. I can work within legally aided rates.

COGNITIVE FUNCTIONING (IQ)

Assessments of cognitive functioning to better understand one's profile of strengths and support needs. This can be helpful for people who have always found certain tasks or forms of thinking/expression more challenging. It can also be helpful for those who have gone through a neurological event that has changed their thinking skills and daily functioning/independence. Individuals who are gifted and wanting to join MENSA may also wish to seek assessment.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT

I provide functional assessments to identify the reasons why people sometimes behave in risky and concerning ways. Assessments also highlight what a person needs to have a high quality of life and wellbeing.  I then develop support plans that work towards a better future. This is particularly helpful for people with additional needs, such as those associated with Intellectual Disabilities.

POST ASSESSMENT SUPPORT AND THERAPY

I offer sessions to those who have recently completed assessments. This can support the process of making sense of assessment conclusions/recommendations in empowering ways.

I also offer a range of psychological therapies for those who wish to increase their wellbeing and/or make changes to their ways of thinking, feeling, behaving, and relating which cause difficulties in everyday life.

Sessions can vary in frequency (weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly) and format (video call, telephone, email) to suit your preferences.

RESEARCH AND AUDIT

I am available to collaborate with researchers on existing projects.

I offer research assistant roles to psychology undergraduates/graduates.

The letter you wrote to our son is absolutely brilliant, and so helpful for us. The way you wrote it - is perfect.  I don't think we ever imagined receiving such an useful, spot on, absorbable assessment, which provides a much deeper understanding, and by that providing us the tools to help our son.

Thank you, you have been amazing. I honestly can't find the words to describe how grateful we are for the way this assessment has been done throughout.
